Madara Karatsu dobin teapot by Kimata Kaoru

Madara Karatsu dobin teapot #2

A charmingly rustic dobin style kyusu with a vine handle. The grainy clay base peeking through the natural glaze gives the pot an interesting texture which is further enhanced by the diagonal ridges cut into the teapot's body. The nature of the runny glaze makes it difficult to create this kind of pot as the lid may get stuck to the body during firing. Therefore the production of this kind is very limited. The lid does not fit as tightly as that of a Tokoname teapot but it is nevertheless perfectly functional. Built-in ceramic filter.

Approx. size: width (at widest point) 6.8"(17cm), height 7.7"(19.8 cm)
volume 23.6 oz (700 ml)

This does not come in a wooden box.
Handcrafted in Hyogo prefecture by Kimata Kaoru.
