Black Hagi kairagi houhin by Mukuhara Kashun #43

Thickly glazed in the kairagi & black style, this "houhin" (small teapot without a handle) is the ideal size for gyokuro and high quality sencha green tea. The "kairagi"pattern, so named because it was thought to resemble the sharkskin used for the handles of Samurai swords, provides a perfect contrast between the smoothness of the glaze and the textured clay beneath.

This houhin has two small bumps placed asymmetrically on both sides as grips to aid pouring.

Handcrafted in Hagi, Japan by Mukuhara Kashun of Furuhata kiln
