Round Yosai Vase by Yasokichi III

The simple shape of this round vase with its elegant neck is the perfect
foil for the dramatic glaze pattern.
Yellow and green shades burst out of a brilliant blue background,
gleaming in the light and emitting a
powerful energy.
Continuing a tradition that started with his grandfather Yasokichi I,
Yasokichi III experimented with a
vast range of pigments and firing methods and in 1997 was designated a "Living National Treasure" for
his contribution to the art.
His vibrant works may have been inspired by the colors of Ko-Kutani,
however they contain a vitality and freshness
pertinent to the modern world.
This piece comes in a wooden box.
