|Ebisu ornament from Kyoto Antoku kiln
This comical handpainted Ebisu ornament is full of character. Ebisu is traditionally regarded as the god of fishermen and as the guardian of health for small children. Many Japanese people place these kind of ornaments in their home as good luck symbols. The fishing rod is made of bamboo and is detatchable.
