Brown kyusu teapot by Yoshiki

A beautifully crafted teapot with unique details, such the spiral design on the spout and the neatly nicked pattern around the base. The black lid is particularly characteristic and is modelled on a design pioneered by Jozan III (Yamada Jozan) who wanted to emulate the look of a cast iron kettle lid.Because of the rustic nature of the design, some unexpected incidents do occur. For example, as coarse sand is mixed in with the clay to acheive a grainy finish, tiny lumps may become detached from the surface leaving what first appear to be chips. This is however a completely natural phenomenon. Note also that the raised rim around the handle turns inwards at one point. This sometimes happens during firing and does not affect the functionability of the teapot. Rather than detracting from the teapot's appearance, these features add an extra dimension and serve as a charming reminder that the pot is completely hand made and unique.

Handcrafted by Tokoname craftsman Yoshiki, who has won numerous awards for his tea ware.
