This piece is inspired by the folktale of Bunbuku chagama in which a tanuki (racoon dog) transforms into chagama (tea kettle). There are some versions of the story on Youtube

Handcrafted in Tokoname, Japan by Hakuyu (Morita Isamu)
He is known for ceramic sculpting and makes his teapots by the hand-forming method (Tebineri).
He is 83 years old this year. The lid is not tight-fit.
