Shudei Mogake shiboridashi by Hokujo
The knob is in the shape of an algae shrimp. Mogake is a traditional technique consisting of applying seaweed on unglazed teapots before firing.
The salt from seaweed oxidizes with the clay during the firing and unique marks are made on the pot surface as seen on the photos above.
Handmade by Hokujo, recognized as a Tokoname City Human Cultural Asset, Master craftsman recognized by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry
of Japan and recipient of numerous prestigious prizes.
