Carbonized Mogake Shiboridashi by Tanikawa Jin #35 — Tokoname

Mogake is a traditional technique in which seaweed is applied to unglazed teapots before firing. The salt from the seaweed reacts with the clay during firing, creating unique natural markings on the surface.
The shiboridashi form is ideally suited for gyokuro and high-grade sencha, which are best brewed at lower temperatures. Its wide, shallow shape allows every last drop to be poured out cleanly, making it perfect for savoring precious teas where no drop should be wasted.
Handcrafted in Tokoname, Japan by Tanikawa Jin (aka Hitoshi) who has won numerous awards for his creations.
