Handpainted tapestry, inspired by Hokusai's "Fine Wind, Clear Morning" by Naka Sachimi
Mount Fuji is a popular motif in Japanese art and can be displayed all year round. There is some very slight fraying around the edge near the bar at the bottom.
Profile of the artist: Born in Kyoto in 1953,Naka Sachimi started off her career as a painter in the kimono trade, learning traditional Kyo Yuzen techniques. She later studied Sumi Ink painting of the Maruyama School. After becoming independent at the age of 28, she has been utilising her experience and skills to create not only beautiful textiles but also original pieces such as these tapestries, paintings and other intrinsically Japanese interior decorations.
