This unique mayake teapot is decorated with engraved Jizou figures, beloved guardian deities associated with children, travelers, and protection in Japanese culture. The repeating Jizou motif creates a playful and distinctive surface, while the handmade nature of the carving gives each face its own character. This teapot was wood-fired in an anagama kiln, producing natural yohen (kiln effects) that enhance the depth and warmth of the clay surface.
